ケヤキ無垢一枚板のダイニングテーブルを出荷

お店の真ん中に置いてあったケヤキの無垢一枚板▼
お買い上げいただいたので、工場に運び、研磨と塗装を繰り返してきれいに仕上げました。もう一枚、お買い上げいただい同じくケヤキの木といっしょに。まっすぐな杢目のケヤキと、節がおもしろい杢目をつくったケヤキです。
どちらも山梨産のケヤキです。社長は伐採から立ち合いました。どちらも目の高さで周囲4.5mもある大木だったそうです。樹齢は350年〜400年ぐらいとのこと。毛布で挟んで車に積み込みました。お客様のもとへ無料配達いたします。

一面真っ白です。これでもだいぶんとけました。きれいな風景ですが、外での作業は寒いです(T_T)
Today, we did the surface-finishing process; sanding and coating, on 2 zelkova tables tops.
One has a straight beautiful grain and the other has an interesting curvy grain around knots.
Mr. Boss was there when they cut down the tree for these table tops. He said it was a huge tree with a circumstance of 4.5m at eye-level. It was probably around 350~400 years old.
We carefully loaded the slabs onto the company's van with many blankets.
Delivery to customer's home is free!!

楡コブの台

ニレコブの台です。
楡にできるコブをスライスしたもの。
表面をていねいに磨き、これから塗料を塗っていきます。
▼こうやってみると世界地図みたいですね。
塗料を塗った瞬間にぱっと木目が浮き出ます。
▼とてもきれいです。
▼いろんな形があります。
大きいものもあります。
▼これは縁に塗料を塗っているところ。
塗料が垂れて裏側へ回らないよう、机の縁を使って塗っていきます。
表面の凸凹すべてに塗料がしみこむよう、ていねいに仕上げていきます。
ニレコブの台にはいろんなものを置いて楽しんでいただけます。
盆栽を置いたり、干支やお雛さんを飾ったり、花瓶を置いたり。
以前、椿一輪が置かれていたのを見たことがあります。
とても粋な使い方でした。
These are sliced elm's burls. We sanded the surface to make it flat and smooth.
Then, we put on a transparent varnish. The purpose of painting on a varnish is as follows:
1. To protect the surface from dust and scratches.
2. To make the grain rise to the surface.
Each piece of elm is unique, and is completed one by one.
They will be used as a flower tray or stand for small objects.
We have various sizes.

The annual Spring Sale will begin tomorrow! This will be held from Saturday, February 10 to Sunday March 25. April is when you start a new life. This fair is for customers who are planning to move, or even people who wants to renovate in the future. We'll reserve the furniture until the new place is ready. Don't miss the chance!

栃、無垢一枚板の天板

栃の無垢一枚板です。
新潟と福島県の県境、奥只見の原生林産から来ました。
人の手が全く入らない原生林です。
自然光が当たると本当に美しい。
高い人気を誇る樹種である理由がよく分かります。
木楽木工房の無垢板天板は裏も表もきれいに仕上げます。
穴があれば透明樹脂で埋め、お部屋の模様替えにどちらも使っていただけるように仕上げています。

天板は三点脚に乗せるだけなので、ひっくり返せば模様替え完了。
乗せるだけですが天板と脚の間に滑り止めがついているので安定感もしっかりあります。
天板だけを押しても足もいっしょについてきます。
Japanese horse chestnut slab from an old growth-forest of Okutadami, on the border between Niigata and Fukushima.
It' will be a dining table top.
It is very beautiful under sunlight, and it's understandable that house chestnut is one of the most popular woods recently.
Kiraku wood workshop finishes both sides of the table so that the customers can use both sides.
It's easy to flip over because it isn't attached by nails to the legs but still very stable with a nonslip fixture.

楓（カエデ）のベンチ、完成！

▼楓のベンチが完成しました！
柔らかい色合いの温かみあるベンチです。
1本の楓の同じ部位から作られています。
木の外側に近い部分が背もたれ部分、
その内側がそれぞれの座面に使用されています。
同じ部位ならではの色や風合いの統一感があります。
角は丸く落としてあり、背もたれも緩やかにカーブ、
座り心地の良い安全なベンチです。
以下は制作風景です。
▼座面の裏側です。裏にもきれいな木目が。
▼脚にも杢が。手前が珠杢、奥が縮杢です。
▼塗料を塗っています。木の風合いを残すため透明の塗料です。

They are all made from the same part of the same tree.
The backrest is made from outermost part, and the seats are made from the inside part.
Its color is mild and creamy and has a very comfortable shape.

２月18日ご紹介した栃一枚板を納品しました。

配達時はご主人と娘さんでお迎えいただきました。
机の到着に満面の笑みのお嬢さん♪
タモの回転イスとケヤキのベンチのセットでご購入いただきました。
片側に回転イス、片側にベンチは最も人気の組み合わせです。
色味を統一した温かみのある組み合わせ。
実はご購入は去年の夏でした。お引っ越しまで間があるとのことで、
約半年、無料でお預かりしていたものです。
木楽木工房では現在、無垢一枚板のフェア開催中です。

原木を仕入れました！

埼玉県飯能市の吾野原木センターの競りで買ってきたものを工場まで輸送しました。
樹種はさまざま。大山桜、山桜、鬼ぐるみ、エンジュ、楠、欅の6種です。
▼上から楠、桜、左の細長いのがエンジュ。
このあと、美しい杢目が出るよう目利きが木取りをし、何年もかけて自然乾燥を行ないます。さらに、どんなデザインの家具に向いているかを検討し、職人がひとつひとつていねいに手作り。時間のかかる作業ですが、本物の木の良さを引き出すために必要な工程です。それぞれの樹種の特徴を生かした家具が木楽のお店に並ぶのをお楽しみに！
We transported logs that our boss had bought at an auction called "Agano Genboku Center". He had bought 6 types of logs, which are "Oyama Sakura", "Sakura", "Oni Walnut",
"Japanese Pagoda Tree", "Camphor Tree", and "Zelkova".
We're going to have a connoisseur cut the wood so that the beautiful wood grain can be drawn out. We will then dry out the wood (which takes a few years) and consider what kind of design and furniture would fit the wood's style best. Lastly, the craftsman will carefully make the furniture one by one. It's a long process but it's really important to take the time and bring out the real beauty of the wood.

丈夫で朽ちにくく、水に強いなどの特性から、古代から高級な棺や水桶、橋杭などの材料として多く使われる（ウィキペディア）材木です。並べてみると美しい白さが際立ちます。リビングにあればぱっと明るさが広がりそう。480,000円です。
New wood slab, Podocarpus(maqui). It is known to be water resistance and was used to make high quality coffins and buckets from the old days. The white pearl like texture is very unique! It will brighten up any living room.
